This session will feature several case studies from real-life procurements that went seriously wrong. From the aerial tram project that went from $15 million to nearly $60 million, to the supplier failure that included a dog earning a college degree, there are lessons to be learned from these situations.

As Groucho Marx once said, “we should learn from the mistakes of others, we don’t have time to make them all ourselves.”

Roger Ball and Darin Matthews both have significant experience in procurement and contracting in various sectors including banking, construction, and government. Roger is currently the chief procurement officer for Cobb County, Georgia and Darin is a director for Mercell, as well as a faculty member for the University of California.
